Japan LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup


Momoko Ueda carded rounds of 76-72-76-79 for a 15-over-par 303, tied for 59th at the (Japan) LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup in Nara Prefecture, Japan (September 09 - 12), which is a major tournament on the LPGA of Japan Tour.

In the first round, Momoko made two birdies, four bogeys, and one double-bogey to be tied for 59th at four-over-par, 10 strokes behind the leader Shinobu Moromizato, the defending champion. Shinobu fired a bogey-free six-under-par 66. In solo second place was Saiki Fujita, who also recorded a bogey-free round; completed it at five-under-par.

In the second round, Momoko made three birdies and three bogeys to stand in a tie for 38th at four-over-par, 13 shots off the pace of the leader Saiki Fujita. Saiki made her first bogey of the tournament on hole 18.

A TV camera captured the moment when Momoko took out her frustration on the pin after she bogeyed hole 16.

In the third round, Momoko played the 18 holes birdie-free while making four bogeys. She is tied for 42nd at eight-over-par after three rounds of the tournament, 18 strokes shy of the 54-hole leader Saiki Fujita.

In the final round, Momoko made two birdies, seven bogeys, and one double-bogey to end up at 15-over-par 303, tied for 59th.

Saiki Fujita carded a bogey-free round of three-under-par 69 to claim her fourth career win and first major title on the LPGA of Japan Tour, at 13-under-par 275 with four bogeys of the tournament. Congratulations to you on your victory, Saiki!

Momoko Ueda will play at the Munsingwear Ladies Tokai Classic in Aichi Prefecture, Japan (September 17 - 19).

CN Canadian Women's Open


Momoko Ueda missed the cut at the CN Canadian Women's Open in Winnipeg, Canada (August 26 - 29).

In the first round, having 38 putts, Momoko made two birdies, five bogeys, and one double-bogey to be tied for 111th at five-over-par, 12 strokes behind the leader Michelle Wie.

In the second round, Momoko made three birdies and four bogeys to miss the cut, tied for 86th at six-over-par (77 - 73), two shots off the cut line.

This is her third time to miss the cut in the 2010 USLPGA/JLPGA season.


Michelle Wie clinched her career-second victory as an LPGA Tour player at 12-under-par, by three strokes over the four runners-up. She kept the lead for four days at the event. Congratulations, Michelle!


Last year, Momoko recorded her career-best finish as a USLPGA Tour member with a tie for second at the CN Canadian Women's Open.


This year, just before competing in the tournament, she had coaching for putting from Steve McRae, who is a PGA AAA Coach and mentors Jiyai Shin and Katherine Hull.


Momoko will get in the Japan LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup in Nara Prefecture, Japan (September 09 - 12), which is one of the JLPGA major tournaments.

Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola


Momoko Ueda carded rounds of 68-71-75 for a two-under-par 214, tied for 23rd at the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in North Plains, Oregon, the U.S. (August 20 - 22).

In the first round, Momoko made six birdies and two bogeys to be tied for fourth at four-under-par, standing two strokes shy of the leader Ai Miyazato.

In the second round, she made six birdies, three bogeys, and one double-bogey to stand in a tie for 10th at five-under-par, six strokes behind the leader Ai Miyazato.

In the final round, Momoko made four birdies and seven bogeys to end up at two-under-par 214, tied for 23rd.

She said shots were terrible during the game.


Ai Miyazato is the winner, who finished at 11-under-par 205, staying on the top of the leaderboard throughout the event. This is her fifth victory on the 2010 LPGA Tour. Awesome, Ai!


On the practice range before the tournament, Momoko learned putting techniques from Dave Stockton and his son.


She is now suffering from her continual coughing and wonders if the trachea is damaged.


Momoko will play at the CN Canadian Women's Open in Winnipeg, Canada, August 26 -29, which brought her a career-best finish as a USLPGA Tour member with a tie for second last year.

NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament


Momoko Ueda carded rounds of 73-69-76 for a two-over-par 218, tied for 37th at the NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament (August 13 - 15 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan).

Momoko got so serious a summer cold just before the event that she withdrew during Thursday's Pro-Am to go to see a doctor.

Nevertheless, she came in Friday's first round to play with a vague spaced-out feeling caused by the cold.

After all, in the first round, she made three birdies and four bogeys to be tied for 43rd at one-over-par, eight strokes behind the two co-leaders: Nikki Campbell and Ai Miyazato.

In the second round, she made three birdies to shoot a bogey-free, 3-under 69 and stand in a tie for 20th at two-under-par, seven shots off the two co-leaders: Nikki Campbell and Ai Miyazato.

In the final round, Momoko made one birdie and five bogeys to end up at two-over-par 218, tied for 37th.

The winner is Ji-Hee Lee at 13-under-par 203 with no bogeys over the 54 holes. Ji-Hee is the fifth player since 1990 on the LPGA of Japan Tour who won a 54-hole event while saving three straight bogey-free rounds. Amazing! Ji-Hee! Congratulations!

Momoko Ueda will compete in the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in North Plains, Oregon, the U.S. (August 20 - 22).

She is expected to come back to Japan to get in the Japan LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup (September 09 - 12).

RICOH Women's British Open


Momoko Ueda finished the RICOH Women's British Open (July 29 - August 01 in Southport, England) at two-under-par 286 (72-70-70-74), tied for ninth.

In the first round, Momoko made four birdies, one eagle, four bogeys, and one double-bogey to be tied for 16th at even-par, four strokes behind the two co-leaders Yani Tseng and Katherine Hull.

In the second round, she birdied hole 6, bogeyed hole 7, but eagled hole 18 to stay under par. Momoko fell on her knees when sinking the eagle putt. She was tied for eighth at two-under-par, six shots off the leader Yani Tseng.

In the third round, Momoko made four birdies and two bogeys to stand in a tie for fifth at four-under-par, eight strokes shy of the leader Yani Tseng.

In the final round, making two birdies, four bogeys, and one double-bogey, Momoko dropped down to even-par total before getting to the tee box on the final hole, but eagled the hole to achieve her second top-ten finish at major tournaments on the USLPGA Tour as a member. She ended up at two-under-par 286, tied for 9th.

Yani Tseng won her third major championship victory by one stroke over Katherine Hull, at 11-under-par 277. Congratulations, Yani!

The next game Momoko will play is the NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament in Nagano Prefecture, Japan (August 13 - 15).
