Suntory Ladies Open Golf Tournament

This is certainly a never-to-be-forgotten tournament for her.

Momoko notched a win on the same course as this year's on her birthday in 2008, the year she began to play on the LPGA Tour as a Tour member.

I was there, Rokko Kokusai Golf Club, which used to be her home course, to pull for her on the course in the first round on Thursday June 10.

Being concerned about her injured right knee that she has decided to treat by all means except surgery, I followed Momoko throughout the 18 holes.

Momoko Ueda carded rounds of 73-74-71-73 for a 3-over-par 291 tied for 12th at the Suntory Ladies Open Golf Tournament held from June 10 to 13 at Rokko Kokusai Golf Club in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.

In the first round, she made four birdies and five bogeys to be tied for 14th at one-over-par, 5 strokes shy of the leader Ayako Uehara.

I was excited to see her sinking a putt longer than six yards for birdie on hole 11 and 5, and making a chip-in birdie as long as 25 yards from the rough around the green on hole 13.

In the second round, Momoko made two birdies and four bogeys to be tied for 24th at three-over-par, six shots off the leader Akane Iijima.

In the third round, she made four birdies and three bogeys to stand in a tie for 10th at two-over-par, six strokes behind the leader Yukari Baba.

In the final round, Momoko made five birdies and six bogeys to end up at three-over-par 291, tied for 12th. Akane Iijima won the close game at two-under-par 286. Congrats to Akane on your first win in two years!

Momoko will go to the U.S. to get back to the LPGA Tour.

Today, June 15, is Momoko's 24th birthday. Happy birthday!
