NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament
Momoko Ueda carded rounds of 73-69-76 for a two-over-par 218, tied for 37th at the NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament (August 13 - 15 in Nagano Prefecture, Japan).
Momoko got so serious a summer cold just before the event that she withdrew during Thursday's Pro-Am to go to see a doctor.
Nevertheless, she came in Friday's first round to play with a vague spaced-out feeling caused by the cold.
After all, in the first round, she made three birdies and four bogeys to be tied for 43rd at one-over-par, eight strokes behind the two co-leaders: Nikki Campbell and Ai Miyazato.
In the second round, she made three birdies to shoot a bogey-free, 3-under 69 and stand in a tie for 20th at two-under-par, seven shots off the two co-leaders: Nikki Campbell and Ai Miyazato.
In the final round, Momoko made one birdie and five bogeys to end up at two-over-par 218, tied for 37th.
The winner is Ji-Hee Lee at 13-under-par 203 with no bogeys over the 54 holes. Ji-Hee is the fifth player since 1990 on the LPGA of Japan Tour who won a 54-hole event while saving three straight bogey-free rounds. Amazing! Ji-Hee! Congratulations!
Momoko Ueda will compete in the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in North Plains, Oregon, the U.S. (August 20 - 22).
She is expected to come back to Japan to get in the Japan LPGA Championship Konica Minolta Cup (September 09 - 12).
